Saturday, August 21
15.00 – 15.30 | Opening ceremony | 15.30 – 16.00 | Jurij Krpan: Contemporary Investigative Arts: Crossing Borders
The lecture with the title: Contemporary Investigative Arts: Crossing Borders is a short rather descriptive introduction into art practices which are dealing with contemporary phenomena such as telecommunications, cybernetics, artificial life, medicine, biology...In the lecture, presenter will lead you through brief historical overview of artistic avantgards, particular technics of contemporary art productions and international public venues where the scientist, technologists, and other highly specialized practitioners are crossing their knowledge with artist. The lecture aims to do an insight into the processes of culturalisation of highly technologized and mediated contemporary society.
| 16.00 - 17.00 | Polona Tratnik: Ars-Bio-Techne: Intersection of Art and Biotechnology
In her lecture the author will present the field of biotech art as a branch of contemporary art, specifically interested in the intersection of art and biotechnology. In these hybrid compositions such transart projects stimulate linking biotechnology with other fields as art and humanities.

6:00 am RUN FOR FUN (organized by Darja Marolt)
"Run for Fun" is meant to socialize, exercise and wake up to a beautifull morning full of energy. We would like to encourage the participants of Summer School to join us in a short run that starts at 6:15 am (meeting 6:00 am in front of the lecture hall, Marine Biology Station) for a 30-45 min run along the coast. We will head towards Tartini Square in Piran, hike up to the church and return.
